Astromusica
Last night was Astromusica, an event my school hosted from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Yeah, you read that right — a whole-night thing, officially approved by the school. I never thought a school would encourage an all-nighter, but here we are.
I brought my sister along. She stayed until midnight, which is when the guests leave and only the students remain. The first part of the night was basically one long concert. Bands played back-to-back, and at one point someone performed Animal I Have Become by Three Days Grace — one of my sister’s favorite bands. She loved it.
Then she hopped on stage to sing herself. A lot of people hated it. But honestly, I think that’s part of being a musician. You take any chance you get, face the crowd, and deal with every reaction — the cheers, the ugly looks, the silence. You can’t be scared of judgment if you want to perform.
Later, some punk jumped on stage with a berimbau (an African instrument), and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I think that's pretty bad ass !!
After my sister left, I ended up spending time with a classmate of mine. Normally, she’s with our mutual friend Morcega, but Morcega went home earlier. Classmate's boyfriend left too. Basically, she got abandoned — and then dropped her phone three times and broke it. So, she didn’t have anything to distract her.
We started wandering the campus together, visiting every single building’s bathroom. Our mission? Collect a bit of toilet paper from each one, stash it, and compare the quality. (For the record: the robotics kids have the best toilet paper.) One building, though, had a mountain of toilet paper balls stacked beside the trash can. Absolutely disgusting. How does that even happen?
Actually, I thought she was very mean for a while. I had difficulty telling apart her jokes from bullying. Because, I don't know. Her humor IS good, but since I'm unused to seeing it in real life, it feels a bit strange!
At some point, I grabbed food from the third-years: a tiny burger, fries, and a mini cake. Forgot to snap a pic of the burger, but the cake was really cute.
Another thing I forgot to say. My dad and I came prepared — maybe too prepared. We packed everything from the “recommended to bring” list: a sleeping bag, foldable chair, bulging backpack, and enough food to feed a small army… even though I was given money for food. I had to carry way more than most people, but honestly, I don’t mind. It just shows my dad worries more than most parents, and I can’t be mad about that. In the end, I didn't need a sleeping bag — at around 5 A.M I sat down on a chair, put a blanket and my pillow on my lap, then curled up with my face on the pillow. And slept just like that, for an hour or so.
In the end, I think the whole charm of Astromusica is the thrill of pulling an all-nighter — officially, with my dad’s permission, in a school setting. Something about it just feels funny, and kind of magical.
The middle of the night has its own vibe. I haven’t stayed awake through it in a while, because when I’m home alone in the dark, I start seeing things that aren’t really there. Not great. But this time, I was with people, in company, safe.
And then came the early morning sky — fresh, light, and promising. It feels like it’s telling you the day hasn’t even started yet, and that you’ve got plenty of time to exist today.
I really wish I had taken more pictures. I don't have this habit at all — I feel like a weirdo when I take photos of things in public, even though everyone does. Hope I can get rid of this embarrassment one day so that I can take photos to remember stuff.
That's what I had to say for now — I'll go eat. Have a good day or night.
