My obsession with frontman of Korn

How long has it been now? Two years? Maybe a little more. I have been fixated on Korn's singer Jonathan Davis for quite a while now. I don't really know what lures me in - the fact that he seems to be neurodivergent like I am, the fact that he's a weirdo like I am. Also, the whole gay thing.

I listened to Korn when I was much younger, but only in a certain day two years ago I started reading about Korn's history and that of Jonathan himself. The thing is...I don't really LISTEN to Korn anymore. I might sound like a fake fan, but I'm more of a Jonathan admirer than anything else. I listened to Korn for so long, so long, that I don't even play it on long car rides anymore. It still sounds great, but the chunky riffs and the slap bass have inhabited my brain for too long now. I think all this time of only listening to Korn made me naturally float over to what I'm listening to right now. I've been liking Placebo a lot, and my sister has heavily influenced me to listen to HIM, and their songs are stuck in my head 24/7.

However, Jonathan still lives rent-free in my sketchbook. I don't know if it's because I've gotten so used to his facial features and replicating them on paper that he's become a comfortable face to look at, but I still draw him just as much as I did last year. His face, and, most of his physical traits are MY personal beauty standard. The closer to Jonathan you look, the more beautiful you are. Which is, well, strange, because Jonathan isn't the most beautiful guy out there. And very far from that. His forehead is a bit too big, his hairline a bit too high up, his facial features aren't "manly" and he is overall a bit weird-looking when you compare him to the male beauty standard.

This video is, like, 30 years old, but he still looks very beautiful now in 2025!

I see LOTS of beauty in him though. I like his pouty lips. I like his chest so hairy it looks like a rainforest. I like his ugly hair. He's infinitely pretty to me. His face has grown pleasant and familiar to look at to me. I like him in any way - skinny, chubby, black hair, brown hair, makeup, no makeup, glasses, no glasses, beard, no beard, and so it goes.

My personal favorite Jonathan is Jonathan in 2010! I have a picture from that era in a photocard holder, attached to my backpack, along with a photo of Munky. Carrying photos of people's faces around is typically a K-pop thing, I don't like K-pop, but I like the cute card holders. And I like the idea of carrying Jonathan and Munky with me everywhere!
